  1. Baseball, vacations, and violence-sweet. The article about violence is particularly thought provoking. All of the talk about "respect" and "rules" reminds me a lot about priesthood quorums. I had a Teacher's Quorum leader once tell me that gangs are a substitute for priesthood quorums as well as a ward family. Without church rules and respect for one's religion/self, a boy has to find his own rules and respect. One reason that football is so appealing is that it has plenty of rules and respect that young men need.

    It's sad that people turn to gangs and inter-city violence as an alternative to church and families. Interesting article.

  2. I totally agree with him about the violence article. It's true that most of the people in gangs are those who really didn't have respect, attention, mentors, etc. They turn to gangs as their "family" and support. It's really sad. This would be an awesome article.
